HOW can your correspondent Gwen Johnson (You Say, March 5) get so many things so badly wrong? Every part of her letter started with a false premise and proceeded to make an argument based on that wrong statement.

For the record, please can we get her quoted "facts" correct. The "hung" city council is led by the Tories supported by their friends in the so-called Independent Party and they make the decisions in Worcester.

My observations in the past of City Independents almost always voting with the Tories tells me that if they look like Tories, sound like Tories, and vote like Tories, then they are Tories.

The Government directive on pensioner bus schemes requires a minimum scheme of half fares to be put in place. The council can agree any scheme, above that of the minimum, that it chooses.

The county council has no authority over council house sales, or any other housing matter, which remains a decision only able to be taken by the city council, and always has been.

It's good and well putting an argument, and very welcome too, but the deliberate misleading of your readers by making up "facts" just won't do at all.

COUNTY COUNCILLOR

ROB PEACHEY,

Worcester.
