Blackpool's strike duo linked up well with only a minute on the clock as Murphy headed down Simpson's pass inside and Ormerod half-volleyed wildly wide from 20 yards.

The home side, with their crowd drummer in full force, went ahead in the sixth minute shortly after Harriers full-back Parfait Medou-Otye went into the book in the for dissent.

Danny Coid steamed down the right wing and provided a perfect cross for big John Murphy to oujump the Harriers defence and head the Lancastrians ahead.

Harriers were now searching for a way back into the game and an industrious run from midfielder Dean Bennett on eight minutes nearly produced space for a shot.

Murphy almost made it 2-0 on 11 minutes when a superb Blackpool move through the middle involving Richard Wellenns and Ormerod gave the target man a chance to shoot.

Medou-Otye did well to block his first shot and then the second was deflected wide.

Harriers earned their first corner on 14 minutes but Andy Ducros's flag-kick lacked quality.

Star midfielder Neil Mackenzie could not get going in the early stages and the visitors were certainly looking rather ropy.

But suddenly the game burst into life for Molby's men in the 20th minute when Mackenzie crossed from the right and Blackpool right-back Coid could only turn the ball into his own net past the helpless keep Phil Barnes.

Within a minute Blackpool could have regained the lead when Ormerod was given a clear sight of goal but Clarke did well to turn his effort around the post for an unproductive corner.
