CSSC Rovers have acquired a new player, Graham Thompson, who played his first Malvern Table Tennis League Division Three match last week and proved to be very good against the top of the table team, Wombats, and won two singles and contributed to the doubles which they nearly took to a third game.

Upton Ripples are deceptively low in the division because of unplayed matches but they met Amateurs who, also with ten matches played, are likely to be their rivals for promotion at the end of the season, and the draw was probably the fairest result. Only two sets required the third game but many were won by very few points. Roger Davies and Jim Hare each won two and the doubles for Ripples.

Abbeydowne were pleased with four points from their Abbey College match but were only able to get singles points from their other two matches with Bill Lucas picking up six singles games and Roy Holland two.

Stephen Lindner, of Crackpots B, won three singles against Police and two against Abbeydowne and Ted Cates won two and the doubles with Alan Forsdike (1) in the Police match. In the evening with Abbeydowne Alan won two and Max Davison one.

Having been forced to accept only one point form Crackpots, the Police also gained four at the expense of Abbey College.

RESULTS: Abbeydowne 4, Upton Ripples 6; Abbey College 0, Abbeydowne 10; Police A 10, Abbey College 0; CSSC Rovers 9, Crackpots C 1; Crackpots B 6, Police A 4; Upton Ripples 5, Manor Park Amateurs 5; Abbeydowne 4, Crackpots B 6; Manor Park Wombats 7, CSSC Rovers 3.
