THE disappearance of the job for life means employees look for bigger and better perks from potential employers, according to a major Worcester recruitment company.

Although, traditionally, it has been the larger, more established companies which provide the perks and incentives, smaller companies are now beginning to realise the importance of offering more than just a wage packet to potential employees, said Judith Hawkes, director of Primetime Recruitment in Worcester.

"Perks include gym membership, attendance bonuses and free car parking," she added.

"At Primetime, it's becoming increasingly apparent that for many people, a deciding factor in accepting a job can come down to the different benefits offered by companies.

"This can often be more important than the nature of the job or even the salary." Primetime Recruitment was established eight years ago but already has 90 branches nationwide including Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff and London.

The company operates in a number of high profile niche markets including the placement of permanent sales and marketing people, technical professionals, office personnel and healthcare and industrial staff.
