PLANS for a new £4m Civic Hall for Stratford were revealed at an Annual Town Meeting last night. (Thursday)

Residents voiced concern over plans to demolish the hall, which backs onto the listed civic offices in Rother Street, but Councillor Beryl Downing put their fears at rest.

As head of the feasibility steering group she said: "We hope to replace the present hall with something much better, to include a raked floor which can also be easily converted for dancing, and much better acoustics."

The money she hopes will come from arts council grants and from the Guild and College Estate Charities.
