I READ the Evening News every night and never cease to be amazed and amused by the defence counsels in court cases.

While I am all for everyone having a right to proper legal defence, are there any cases ever, where, the defence just ensures that fair play is observed, rather than putting forward spurious reasons to justify their clients' actions?

I look forward to the day when I read that the defence counsel stated that their client simply committed the offence. Then again, I doubt this defence pays our "learned friends" quite so well.
