Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat returns to Malvern Theatres this week

with a brand new star.

New Zealander Glen Drake will making his UK stage debut as the man with the lurid jacket in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash musical.

Glen began his career in 1992 in New Zealand and is best known in the UK for his two-year stint as Cameron Scott in the soap opera Shortland Street, beginning at the end of 1995.

He played Joseph in the play's New Zealand tour and also appeared in Hercules - The Legendary Journeys on US TV and the film Heavenly Creatures, with Kate Winslet.

First performed in 1968, the musical tells the biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colours. It launched the careers of Rice and Lloyd Webber, who went on to write shows such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita.

The production will feature children from St Joseph's primary school, who will star in the Malvern production for the third year running.

Performances are on Monday (March 5), at 7.30pm, Tuesday to Thursday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and Friday and Saturday at 5pm and 8pm.

Tickets range from £9 to £23 and are available from the box office on 01684 892277.
