DETECTIVES hunting for the body of missing estate agent Suzy Lamplugh have drawn a blank in their search of a site on the outskirts of Worcester.

Metropolitan Police officers left the former brickworks at Norton yesterday lunchtime.

Detectives investigating Miss Lamplugh's disappearance almost 15 years ago carried out a 30-man search of the site next to the M5 shortly before Christmas.

They returned on Monday, February 26, because flooding had made some parts inaccessible during the previous search.

A police spokesman said that officers were confident Miss Lamplugh was not at the site.

"Nothing was found at the site and there are no plans to return to the area," said a Metropolitan Police spokesman today.

There have been rumours that Miss Lamplugh's body was buried on land at Norton Barracks, on which luxury homes have since been built.

Detectives have ruled out claims that the search was prompted by interviews with convicted killer John Cannan.

Cannan was linked to the missing estate agent when a former girlfriend claimed he had confessed to the killing and implied he had buried her.

He has always denied murdering the 25-year-old, who vanished after going to meet a Mr Kipper in Fulham.
