A WORCESTER-based communications agency has launched its Creative Awards 2001, designed to recognise the achievements of graphic design students.

Market Link will be working closely with Worcester College of Technology's School of Art and Design in the awards, which will see the winners receiving a week's paid work experience with the agency.

"Like many companies in the county, we're regularly approached by schools and individuals looking for work experience with us," said creative director Steve Hinds.

"To be honest, while we get the occasional exception, most are not really aware of what we do before they arrive and we spend a significant amount of time trying to provide worthwhile work experience for youngsters who don't have a genuine interest in our work.

"This can clearly be frustrating for the young person involved and for us."

He said the work experience this way was useful for all concerned.

Tutor at the college Sharon Goode welcomed the approach.

"We welcome links like this with local companies willing to get involved in what we do and willing to offer worthwhile incentives to our students," she said.
