A YOUTH choir present their spring concert in Kidderminster this month in an event which promises something for most music lovers.

Wyre Forest Young Voices, the youth choir of Kidderminster Choral Society, will perform at St George's Church in Kidderminster.

The choir, led by musical director Geoffrey Weaver, will sing a wide-ranging selection of music, including classical pieces, spirituals, songs from shows and folk music.

There will also be solos and duets by members of the choir and by other young musicians. The accompanist will be Mike Elden, who also plays for the choral society.

The choir, which was formed in 1997, has enjoyed continued early success and members enjoyed performances in the Elgar Music Festival and in Germany last October.

Plans for this year now include participation in a production of Benjamin Britten's Noye's Fludde in October, as well as possible visits to the continent and Cyprus.

New members aged between 11 and 19 are welcome to join the choir after Easter when there will be opportunities to rehearse for a concert at Great Witley Church in June.

Rehearsals, conducted by Mr Weaver, are held at Baxter Church Hall, in Kidderminster's Bull Ring, on Thursdays between 5pm and 6.45pm.

Luise Horrocks, a professional soprano soloist based in Worcester, will also be on hand to act as vocal coach to the young singers.

Details about joining and tickets for the concert are available by calling Mrs Catanach on 01562 69645.
