THE Tories claim they will support families with their new Married Couples Allowance, but this is just another con trick. Eight out of 10 married couples will gain nothing at all - any new Tory allowances will go to the few at the expense of the many.
Their true colours were exposed when they promised to slash the Working Families Tax Credit. This would cost £150 a year for many thousands of hard-working families.
In addition, they would exempt business from providing basic rights for families, including parental leave, paid holidays and the national minimum wage.
The only charitable explanation about their policy is that they simply don't understand the impact they will have on families. The only other explanation is that they do understand, but don't care.
