THE inaugural staging of the President's Trophy for the May Vince Vase saw more than 60 competitors in action including current England internationals, angling press and friends who have known May for many years.

The winner Russ Dowdling caught roach on pole and stick from Common Road Waters to edge out his two Shakespeare colleagues.

This match will be a calendar date in future years for the last Saturday in February.

The final match of the Winter Series takes place on Sunday with the draw at 8am and fishing between 9am and 1pm.

The Last Chance Open will be held on March 14, draw at Ferry at 8.30am. Book in early at local fishing tackle shops.

Association members are invited to visit Town and Common Road Waters to ascertain the work need to be carried out for pallet repair and replacement.

Anyone interested in helping undertake the work, to be completed by May 31, is asked to contact the secretary.

Club secretaries have been given details of new restrictions on fishing bait and bloodworm voted in at the recent AGM.

The bait can be used in all matches except EDAA Trophy matches but there is a strict enforcement on quantity effective from June 16.

FISHING a frost damaged River Avon at Wasperton, members struggled to fill their nets with several not even troubling the scalesman.

Tony Brooks is the overall winner of the Avon Shield after Sunday's match was won by Nick Green.

The Last Chance Cup will be contested at Broadheath Pools on Sunday, March 11 when the overall trophy positions will be decided. Members are urged to attend in order to ensure a fair result.
