DROITWICH Rugby Club hope to cause a massive upset when they go head to head with Malvern in the second round of the North Midlands Cup on Sunday (2pm).

The Midlands Four West South high-flyers entertain the runaway Midlands Two West leaders at Memorial Ground on the back of a morale-boosting win over title rivals Pershore at the weekend.

Not only will Droitwich be looking to take that form into the cup tie, they will also be hoping their counterparts are suffering after playing a league clash 24 hours earlier.

The Spring Lane side have to travel to Lichfield for a league encounter on the Saturday and hope to field the same 15 at Droitwich a day later.

However, even if injuries do scupper their bid to play an unchanged side, Malvern's squad strength should see them field a strong team whatever happens. They are still unbeaten in the league and look set for promotion at the end of the season.

It is the first time the two sides have met for six years and the winners will face a trip to Midland One side Hereford in the next round.

Droitwich are set to stick with the side which beat Pershore 19-8. Danny White and Simon Mountjoy continue their new partnership at halfback while Matt Blackmore continues at centre.
