Droitwich III 15 pts, Pershore III 32

PERSHORE maintained the momentum of recent weeks to achieve a thoroughly convincing win against local rivals Droitwich.

From the start Pershore grabbed the initiative and early pressure brought rew-ard when Paul Rids-well forced his way over for the opening try.

Droitwich responded strongly and were soon on level terms with a well-worked try in the corner.

However, with Per-shore refusing to concede any advantage to the opposition, further tries from Brian Avery and Ray Smith rest-ored a well deserved lead.

A quality long-range penalty from Matt Stanway, in response to a Droitwich try, gave Pershore a significant 20-10 advantage at half time.

The second half saw Pershore maintain the tempo in their play which proved to be so effective throughout the game.

Several phases of possession near to the Droitwich line culminated in Avery crashing over for his second try and a superb win-ger's try from Rids-well when he outpaced the home defence was a fitting finale.

A late Droitwich try failed to detract from the quality of the Pershore performance and the commitment of the whole side.
