ST BENEDICT'S were celebrating after winning their first-ever match in the Evesham Indoor League.

Bidford set the Saints a stiff task but the winners had three wickets and three balls to spare as they reached their target of 114.

An unbeaten 49 from Nash again proved the backbone of the Bidford total of 113-5 but Nason and Collins were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

Sara (3-29) was the Saints' top bowler but they found consistency throughout their batting ranks with Powell (35no) and Nichols (27ret) the chief contributors.

Gardner and Harris also scored vital runs as the Saints recorded a long awaited win.

In the night's other game, Overbury returned to winning ways to keep the pressure on summit side Ashton.

A disciplined team effort helped restrict Dumbleton to 105-2 with five batsmen passing double figures, with both Piesse and Boorman retiring with 25 against their names.

Haynes left the wicket in similar fashion as Overbury coasted to a four-wicket victory when again a handful of players all reached double figures.

Scores: St Benedict's 114-3, Bidford 113-5; Dumbleton 105-2, Overbury 109-2.

Fixtures for Tuesday: Overbury v St Benedict's (8pm), Bidford v Ashton (9).
