TWO new beat managers have been appointed by Kidderminster Police.

PC Nigel Barter will be working in the rural communities covering Bewdley and Tenbury, while PC Paul Ashby will have responsibility for the western side of Kidderminster involving Franche, Blakebrook, Habberley, Oldington, Foley Park, Sutton Farm, Upper Arley and Trimpley.

The officers will be working with agencies, including parish, district and county councils, neighbourhood watch and rural groups, to identify the cause of local problems.

They will be utilising teams of special constables, who will target crime "hotspots" and make contact with victims of crime.

"The aim is to improve the quality of life for all residents by involving the whole community," said PC Barter.

"A group of people with a range of skills and expertise will be set up to provide a systematic and planned approach to local issues."

Anyone is interested in joining the Special Constabulary should contact Kidderminster Police Station on 01562 820888.
