CAMPAIGNERS bidding to save services at Kidderminster Hospital are to fight seven seats in the Worcestershire County Council elections on May 3.
The plan was revealed as campaign chairman Dr Richard Taylor formally introduced himself as Health Concern prospective candidate for the general election at a press conference the day after the Shuttle/Times & News first broke the news of his selection.
Addressing a packed room of supporters at the Gainsborough House Hotel, Dr Taylor said he would be working to convince Wyre Forest GPs, who have opted to work with hospital reorganisation, that they should look at "user-friendly" alternatives being adopted in other areas of the country.
Wyre Forest District Council chairman and Health Concern councillor John Gordon said the political rise of the party was no "flash in the pan".
An "excellent squad" of 19 district councillors had thrown themselves into council work in all areas with enthusiasm and they did not consider themselves single-issue councillors.
He revealed "at least seven candidates" would be bidding for county council seats, some of whom would be "fresh faces."
