EVESHAM College's Football Academy will be holding trials next month for the new intake of the 2001/2002 season.

The aim of the Academy, now in its fourth year, is to develop local footballers to enable them to progress to higher levels in the game.

The college team competes in the British College's National Football Academy League and English Schools competitions.

There have been several success stories to date - the most recent being the selection of Jamie Faulkner and Luke Tovey for the county college squad.

Seven players from the Academy have progressed to semi-professional status and five more are expected to reach the same level from the current crop. Players are now working towards their UEFA B coaching certificate with the help of ex-Celtic pro Frank Nuttall.

The new campaign will also see the launch of a Women's Academy at Evesham in response to market demands.

Trials for the new season will take place on April 17 and 18 for the men and on May 5 for the ladies. Contact Lee Perry on 01386 712655 or Geoff Samuels on 077784 85601 for details.
