AN all-Stratford Alliance final was foiled when Bidford BC lost a thrilling penalty shoot-out against Newdigate in the semi-final of the George Dutton Cup.

The sides shared four goals after extra time but Bidford suffered an agonising exit after a 7-6 penalty reverse.

Shipston Excelsior also needed extra time before disposing of the challenge of fellow Journal Premier Division side Studley.

Kevin Burrows scored twice as the London Roaders sealed a 3-2 overtime success.

Three more ties needed extra-time last Saturday with Bidford again succumbing in dramatic fashion.

Two goals apiece for Dan Payne and Phil Layton weren't sufficient to see off the challenge of Spartak Park in the first round of the Alun Rees Trophy.

Park's Jim Brooks and Chris Rowney also grabbed braces while Paul Linton grabbed the decider.

Smith hit two for Badsey United Reserves, who lost out by the odd goal of five after another extra time clash at Tysoe. United's three goals came from Ally Eden, Steve Hardy and Neil Dudfield.

Badsey United scored three times in extra time to defeat Halfords 4-1 in the Nursing Home Cup quarter-final. Andy Bolland scored twice - and they were joined in the last four by Campden Town, who won 4-1 with the help of an Adam Bennett double.

There were away wins for Arrow Valley and Badsey Rangers in Herald Division One, the latter closing the gap on leaders Campden to just one point after a 2-1 win at Welford.

Shipston also saw their lead at the top of the Journal Premier Division cut to two points after Dan Miller and Barry Williams scores as Bretforton Sports overcame FISSC 2-1.
