I HAVE read letters and reports about the proposed incinerator, and at no time have I seen mention of the one at Hoobrook 20 years ago.
It was near to main roads and islands, with easy access, and there were no houses on the end of Wilden Lane. But in January 1984 it closed and rubbish had to be taken elsewhere. Why was it not extended?
In the long run it would have saved traffic, fuel, manpower, and all the controversy about the planned one for Stourport Road.
Councillors at that time did not look very far ahead.
Now look at all the time, money and worry that people living in Stourport Road have had, trying to stop the building of a new incinerator and all that goes with it.
