GOLF: WHARTON Park Golf Club's assistant professional Danny Clee is preparing for April's Master Card British Tour after finishing sixth in a regional event.

Kidderminster-based Clee, 25, was competing in a Midland PGA winter series pro-am tournament pro medal section at Patshull Park and managed a 74.

There was a three-way tie for first place with two-under-par rounds of 70.

Clee is in his fourth year at the Bewdley club but has not been a qualified professional for long and needs sponsorship to help him concentrate on his golf.

He said: "I still work in the club shop and am trying to get enough money to play full-time.

"That would certainly help my golf and then we'll see what happens from there. My main objective is to do well in the British tour. There is a qualifying school at Saunton in April.

"Patshull Park was my first event of the year. It wasn't too bad but it wasn't too great. There were only 16 teams taking part."

Meanwhile, Wharton Park are extending their pro shop and a new restaurant at the course is proving popular.

Anyone who can help Clee can call the club on 01299 405222.
