SOME of the rising stars of opera are coming to Campden.
Campden and District Music Society welcome pianist Michael Pollock for the last concert of their season on March 13 and he will be accompanying two up and coming singers.
Michael, formerly one of the senior staff at the Welsh National Opera, is used to appearing at music clubs, festivals and competitions all over Britain. He will accompany two young singers, Gabriella Lambert-Poole, soprano, and Joanne Thomas, mezzo-soprano, who will sing operatic solos and duets, as well as songs (including some repertoire from Gabriella's native land Sweden).
They have already been selected for roles with English National Opera and offered understudy parts at Glyndebourne. Joanne will be representing Wales in the 2001 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
The concert takes place in Chipping Campden School Hall, Cider Mill Lane, at 8pm. Individual tickets, £8, will be available at the door on the night (50p children or students). For annual membership of the group contact Campden Music Society Treasurer, Walnut Cottage, Ebrington, GL55 6NL or phone 01386 593085.
