Bretforton Ladies 4, Cheltenham II 0

BRETFORTON had more of the first half play than Cheltenham but had difficulty in finding the net.

The Cheltenham goalkeeper made several excellent saves and a number of Bretforton shots failed to hit the target.

Cheltenham, against the run of play, caught Bretforton unawares and put the ball in the net, but the shot was adjudged to have been made outside the circle and the goal was disallowed.

Late in the half Sarah Hall finally put Bretforton ahead with a superb reverse stick shot.

The second half started with Bretforton again on top but they were unable to convert their chances into goals.

Cheltenham's young side worked hard to frustrate Bretforton and there was a danger that they could equalise from a breakaway attack.

Bretforton's second goal came from a change to their short corner routine which deceived the Cheltenham defence. The ball ran back to player of the match Bobbie Handley who hit home her first goal of the season.

This goal proved to be the turning point in the match as Bretforton were no longer vulnerable to a breakaway equaliser and Cheltenham lost some of their confidence.

Bretforton's fitness training paid off and they finished the match stronger than their younger opponents.

Further goals were added by Lisa Workman, who worked hard throughout the match, and Hall netted her side's final goal to give them a convincing win and maintain their push for a promotion place.
