THE Bonmarche chain of women's clothes shops, with 210 outlets nationwide, is to open in Bromsgrove.

Its latest shop, at 76 High Street, in premises formerly occupied by Burtons, opens its doors for the first time on March 15.

A spokeswoman for the Huddersfield-based store said around 15 full-time and part-time jobs will be created.

The company caters mainly for those aged 45 and over.

News that the premises was to have a permanent tenant once more was welcomed by Anita Mears, the chairman of the traders' group, BroMark.

She said: "We welcome the fact that the shop will be smar-tened up by having a permanent sign and that it will not be another charity shop.

"We are not against them, but we feel we already have our fair share.

"Also it is good for the town because it will be a shop where people can buy goods rather than services."
