Redditch Smallwood Hospital Annual Meeting - The sixth annual meeting of the governors and subscribers of the above institution was held in the Board Room of the hospital on Monday.
Lord Windsor, the president, had been announced to preside but sent an apology regretting that business in London prevented his being present and in his absence Dr E Mathews was voted to the chair.
Before commencing the business of the meeting, the chairman made a sympathetic reference to the loss the nation had sustained by the death of Her Majesty Queen Victoria.
She had always shown the deepest sympathy with those who were in distress, and sickness and suffering had always appealed most particularly not only to the Queen, but to the woman.
She had been succeeded by a Prince and Princess who it was safe to say were the most popular ever known and both the present King and Consort had always evinced a keen interest in hospital matters.
