KINGS HEATH are still waiting to learn their reward for another Birmingham Senior Cup scalp.

The Kingsmen shocked Midland Comb Premier leaders Studley 1-0 last week after knocking out higher league West Midlands Police and Stratford Town in earlier rounds.

With the Lye Meadow tenants never having won more than one game in the competition before, manager Sean Lawless has guided his underdogs into the quarter finals.

Heath have a home draw in the last eight against either Division One giants West Bromwich Albion, Conference outfit Hednesford or Dr Martens Western side Evesham.

Hednesford and Evesham were set to lock horns this week but Lawless wants a crack at the Baggies.

"It would be nice for the lads to take on a professional side," he said.

"But this is the best run we've ever had in the competition and not many Midland Combination sides have reached the quarter finals."

A series of washouts at Heath's adopted Alvechurch home has put the competition behind schedule and Lawless was this week turning his thoughts to the league.

The Kingsmen were set to visit Sutton Town tonight (ko 7.45pm) to take on a side who upset leaders Studley 3-0 at the weekend.

Heath go into the match on the back of a 1-0 weekend win over Cheslyn Hay.

And Kings visit a resurgent Highgate on Saturday (ko 2.45pm).

Midfielders Dave Crumpton, Micky Burton and Peter Bennett are back in the fray but sweeper Scott Matthews is set to see a specialist about his knee.

Matthews had an operation to repair ligament damage but suffered a reaction after a return to light training and has been ruled out for at least a fortnight.

Prodigal son Perry Deakin made his first start on Saturday after rejoining the club but is ruled out tonight by work commitments along with left sided midfielder John Price.

Striker James Miah and midfielder Jason Phillips are set to figure and defender Tommy Duggan is available after missing Saturday through work commitments.
