SHOULD we pay £10-£15 per year? Why is it so wrong to improve our area?

In November 1999, 140 residents attended a meeting at Lickey End so councillors would listen and take action.

A group was set up to liaise with the powers that be on these issues, but we have hit many hurdles in the process.

* Our caring district councillors have not shown any interest in our concerns and have not been forthcoming with support offered at the first meeting. In 15 months, the group has only received one letter, which had to be asked for.

* At a council meeting on the new Local Plan. The question "How will the development of Norton Farm/Barnsley Hall affect roads and schools in our area?" could not be raised. Us mere mortals (sorry, residents) are not allowed to speak.

I will continue the campaign to improve road safety in our area regardless of the outcome in May when the Lickey End Parish Council vote takes place.

I put the blame for this fiasco on the disinterested councillors intent on scoring political points instead of attempting to solve the concerns of residents.
