IT'S another big game for us this Saturday when Dr Martens League Premier Division leaders Burton Albion come to St George's Lane.

I think in terms of the quality of football that has been played at this stage of the season, Nigel Clough's side deserve to win the championship and they've been up around the top all season.

What my old club haven't done, despite the run they have had, is manage to shake off a very determined, well-organised and resilient Margate side.

Margate had a good 3-0 win at Ilkeston Town last week and then did well to beat Tamworth 1-0 on Saturday, both with clean sheets, and we know to our cost that if you surrender the lead to Margate, it is difficult to pull back.

They are now one point behind Burton with three games in hand. It will be an interesting run-in and the fact that Burton are due to play Margate at Eton Park on the last day of the season may prove very interesting.

Burton had a tremendous 2-1 win over Yeovil Town on Saturday to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Umbro Trophy.

I don't see reaching the quarter-finals of the Trophy as a distraction to them to be honest, and I would sooner be in their position. I have never known anything bad come out of winning games and still being involved in cup competitions.

It was a bit of a shock to say the least when they lost 2-0 at home to lowly Folkestone Invicta last week, but it is another clear example of the topsy-turvy nature of the league.

That was emphasised even more when Folkestone went to a mid-table side, Newport County, on Saturday and were beaten 5-0.

I am sure Burton are looking forward to coming to Worcester, and we aim to give them a tough, competitive game. Hopefully we won't disappoint them in that respect.

We lost 1-0 at Burton just before Christmas, when we had decent possession in the second-half without really showing too much penetration, while we were disappointed with the goal we conceded.

We perhaps felt a share of the spoils on the day would have been more of a fair result, but it wasn't to be.

We have now got ourselves in a position of being in the top six, and it is a good opportunity to see if we can show something against the leaders in front of our own supporters.

If we can get a good result, the confidence that could be gained from that may be a great tonic to see us through to the end of the season.

I know there is an initiative for the club with the local schools on Saturday so that should boost the gate, and Burton's supporters have been travelling in the sort of numbers you would expect from a side at the top end of the table.

Hopefully a few neutrals should come along as well to make it one of our best gates of the season.

I think it is a great fixture for us to kick-off the final run-in, and it is a big week for us with a quarter-final league cup tie against Bilston Town to follow on Monday.

They will also be tough opposition as they are going well at the top of the Western Division.

We are in the last third of the league programme with a couple of cups still to go for, as well as trying to finish as high as we possibly can.

The pleasing thing is that the season for us is going into the home straight in terms of things to play for, and our season is not dead and buried - there is still plenty to play for.
