Adrian Cornwell triumphed in the Leys Sports Centre Winter Squash Handicap Tournament.
Cornwell put paid to hopes of an upset by seeing off a jaded Darren Cox 25-8 in the final.
Cox had caused the shock of the tournament by sending Graham Moore crashing out 25-24 in a nailbiting semi.
But the titanic clash took its toll on the underdog who could not unlock Cornwell's tight game.
Veteran Cornwell reached the final by defeating Steve Chant 25-13 in the semi.
A number of first round upsets included Carl Albright's win over Kirk Wight, Cox's impressive win over Daniel Whittington and Chris Elloitt's elimination by Joe George.
