TUESDAY was a good day for Quinton husband and wife duo Reg and Doreen Putnam at the latest Starlets Veterans contest, which was held at Moorlands Farm. Reg took first place by fishing a mini feeder at Bank Pool peg ten for 12-0-0. Peter Taylor (Redditch) was second with 7-5-0, with Doreen third with 6-5-0.

Two open events were held at Astwood Fisheries on Wednesday, with a tie for first place on the Bluebell Pool for Weoley Castle WMC club mates Barry Jones and Paul Hanford, both fishing maggots for 9-0-0 apiece. Rob Francis (Ovation Leisure) was third with 4-8-0.

Stoke Works matchman Gary Kirkham (Astwood) headed the Smokey Joe Pool score sheet with a waggler and maggot attack to the island from peg 28 for 18-7-0. Second Ron Fowler (Weoley Castle WMC) 6-6-0, third Adrian Niblett (Weoley Castle WMC) 2-0-0.

Saturday saw round four of the Redditch Federation Geers Winter League on the Stratford Canal at Earlswood with Jason Buik (DGL Red) taking the top individual honours in this 17 teams of four event, by pole fishing bloodworm and joker at peg 29 for a mainly roach catch of 4-5-12. Rob Gandley fishing under the Starlets banner was a close second with 3-14-3, third Steve Hayes (DGL Red) 3-9-0.

Starlets headed the day's points table with 62, DGL Red were a close second with 61, with Tight Lines and Redditch MG both on 54. Overall, Bromsgrove's Harris MG lead with 237, Starlets 215, DGL Red 205.

At Woodlands View, the Arles and Deans Pools open was won by Russ Anderton (Woodlands) with a waggler and maggot carp catch of 46-1-0 from Deans peg 37. Second Richard Edward (Fishermans Friend) 33-6-0, third Pete Wedgebrow (Slapheads) 25-0-0.

The Moorlands Farm open was topped by Martin Lefure (Barry's Boys) with a waggler, corn and maggot catch of 61-15-0 from Island Pool peg 27. Jez Williams (DC Lifestyle) followed with 29-4-0, third Darren Clewley (Team Wesson) 26-8-0.

The Moorlands Farm Sunday open saw Island Pool peg 27 come up trumps again. This time it was Matt Haynes (Docklow) who took a top score 31-0-0 of carp with waggler and corn. Runner-up was Steve Palmer (Moorlands) with 28-12-0, third Clive Munslow (Preston Innovations) with 27-10-0.

Woodlands View's Deans Pool open was won by Matt Tranter (Midland Match) with a 31-10-0 mixed catch taken with waggler and maggots from peg 22. Second Rob Fellows (Bromley) 22-12-0, third Paul Downes (MAP Starlets) 21-2-0.
