CHANGES are planned for a scheme caring for homeless, young people in Droit-wich Spa.

Droitwich Single Homeless Project looks set to be taken over by an organisation called Step Out Drop In.

The two groups are still in talks but homeless project chairman Joanna Jay said the new group will probably take over at the end of March.

The project manages two properties in Ombersley Road which provide shelter for people aged from 16 to 25.

The scheme has been running for eight years and Joanna believes the new group will provide the best opportunity for the scheme to move on and expand.

Some committee members will remain but Redditch-based Step Out Drop In will bring in new management.

Staff and volunteers at the two homes will keep their jobs.

The Redditch organisation currently has five properties in Worcestershire and a team of trained staff.

Manager David Cartwright said: "The homeless project approached us and we are excited about this new venture."
