THE adoption of a village design statement drawn up by residents in the Alvechurch area will be considered tomorrow.

The three-year study was undertaken by Alvechurch, Hopwood, Bordesley, Weatheroak and Rowney Green residents. It includes, for example, pictures of building details such as windows and doors and refers to the style of footpath in the different villages.

It is intended the statement will be adopted as supplementary planning guidance (SPG) which acknowledges the council accepts the document as part of its overall development plan system.

The concept of incorporating the statement onto Bromsgrove Council's website will also be discussed at a special meeting of the policy and resources committee.

Parish council clerk Gill Lungley said: "The document was formed by a steering group which found out what people in the parish believe give it a distinctive character.

"The findings were concentrated into a manageable document which it is hoped will be accepted as SPG, so if a developer wanting to build or an individual wanting to make changes to their home will look to the document to see if their plans are in keeping with what the village likes.

"Copies of the statement have been printed but the group was hoping to print more when funds become available."
