KAREN Lumley, Redditch's Conservative prospective Parliamentary candidate, visited Moatfield Middle School with Shadow Local Government Minister Nigel Waterson.

Their mission was to see how much Worcestershire loses out with the current Standard Spending Assessment.

Mrs Lumley said: "I'm delighted that not only was Mr Waterson interested in the county's problems but he was so concerned that he decided to come to Redditch for himself to see how deprived this county actually is."

Mrs Lumley and Juliette Loate, both governors of town schools, were in Worcester when Tory leader William Hague paid a visit on Friday.

Mr Hague was given a letter written by the parent representatives on Worcestershire Education Panel and Mrs Lumley pointed out the disadvantages Worcestershire has.
