SPA had to settle for a point after arriving with just enough players to make a full team. Injuries and non-availability of players meant Droitwich were always going to be up against it in a scrappy game.

Spa's first half performance flattered their impressive league position and there seemed to be a lack of ideas on how to approach the game with so many players in unfamiliar positions.

It wasn't a shock when Earlswood took the lead right on half time when a breakaway resulted in an emphatic finish from Earlswood's striker. The second half started much the same way as the first half ended with Earslwood applying all the pressure, so it was a surprise when Spa drew level on 58 minutes.

Steve Walsh's bullet from 12 yards managed to ghost under the 'keeper's body. This equaliser instilled some confidence and on 74 minutes they took the lead. A fine chase down the wing from Nick West resulted in a through ball for Andrew Crowther to surge into the box. Earlswood's Mark Johnston was beaten for pace and had no option but to bring down Crowther for a penalty. Andrew's brother Adrian stepped up and gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Droitwich then committed football suicide, giving a penalty away two minutes later, which Earlswood converted. Spa will have to improve 100 per cent if they are to be serious contenders for promotion.
