A MAN who worked as a paint sprayer was found dead in his car by a neighbour who had seen him starting his car only an hour before, an inquest was told.

Edward Giblin, of Walter Nash Road, Kidderminster, was found outside his home just before 11pm on Friday, December 22.

A vacuum cleaner pipe lead from the car's exhaust into the vehicle, the inquest at Stourbridge was told.

A note was found inside and the handwriting identified as Mr Giblin's by his mother and sister.

The 33-year-old, who was single, had been living at his girlfriend's for a number of years.

Worcestershire Coroner Victor Round told the inquest Mr Giblin had been admitted to Kidderminster General Hospital after overdosing on Anadin in June 1995.

Mr Round also said the family had recounted a couple of similar incidents in the past.

He said over the past 12 months, Mr Giblin had become estranged from his family, except from his mother, and suffered from depression and alcohol problems and had not always worked regularly.

"He had been giving the impression of doing so by leaving home and returning at appropriate working times," Mr Round added.

Cause of death was given as carbon monoxide poisoning from car fumes and the coroner recorded the verdict he took his own life.
