IT is with regret that I find myself complaining about your recent editorial on foxhunting.

If the sole reason for the Evening News coming out in favour of a ban on hunting is "pomp and glory" and enjoying a stirrup cup, then heaven help democracy and unbiased reporting by our local evening paper, as such an objection sounds as if it is based on good old-fashioned class warfare and not reasoned debate.

The most respected letters written by hunting protagonists are those with full name and address, as you well know. That the writer chose to hide behind an unsigned article, as the view of the entire reporting staff, I find distasteful, biased, untruthful and unprofessional.

Such an article has I believe, brought the paper into disrepute and its credibility has now been compromised.

Might I respectfully suggest that, in future, regarding contentious issues, those writing an article have the moral fibre to nail their colours to the mast by penning their name as has always been the case in the past.

Finally, might I remind you of the many polls held, including your own. Perhaps you would care to remind your readers of the results.
