A DAY of sums added up to fun for children at Catshill Middle School.

The pupils at the school, in Meadow Road, joined in National Numbers Day and all the classes studied the subject for the day.

Activities included problem solving and tables tests.

Now the youngsters, after having had the help of teachers to gain their new-found skills, hope to put their talents to use in the New Year.

Teacher David Beeston said: "It was maths made fun.

"All the children in the school took part and joined in the national event.

"We made it appropriate to the time of year, but it still covered the National Curriculum."

WORK IT OUT: Nine-year-old Declan Jones joins in National Numbers Day.
