AN 81-year-old Kidderminster woman who was "stranded" in a hospital 40 miles away for 81 days has returned to town.

Edna Langford, who has alzheimer's disease and mobility problems, has been transferred to Hollyfields Nursing Home from Evesham.

Her ordeal started when she had two falls at a Kidderminster nursing home and was taken to Ronkswood Hospital, Worcester.

Nothing was broken but she was badly bruised and taken to Evesham Community Hospital.

She had remained in Evesham since October 1 while authorities argued over funding.
