AT the third attempt, Langland Sports finally played their WFA County Saturday Minor Cup against Wychbold Poachers, having to make the trip to the other side of Kidderminster to do so.

WYCHBOLD POACHERS 0, LANGLAND SPORTS 3

Arriving in plenty on time Langlands found the changing rooms locked and when they did get changed they had a 20 minute late kick off with the match official waiting for Wychbold to get the eleven men on the field with the Wychbold substitutes turning up some 20 minutes later.

When Terry Morse's men finally got into action chances came at both ends, but Mark Newman in fine form in rain swept conditions installed confidence throughout the Langland side. In the first 35 minutes Langland had two players fouled repeatedly but received little protection.

Dean Drinkwater came to Langland's aid with another of his left foot rockets from 35 yards that flew in over the keeper.

In the second half the game became more physical but the young players from Langland dug in even though players had to be replaced due to injuries. Brooks, Portman, Brannelly, Preece and Morse kept the young side playing good football and making chances for Harvey and Drinkwater. As Wychbold pushed forward, Harvey scored a brace to put the game beyond them with 20 minutes to go. Langland then lost Matt Butler whose long throws had done a lot of damage.

With Langland playing the last 15 minutes with only nine fit players, Wychbold came into the game more as Langland had not played for three weeks and were tiring. All players taking part in this game for Langland Sports gave 110% and kept their discipline in a very difficult game.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Langland travel to Hanley Swan for a league game, meet at Terry's at 1pm for a 2.15pm kick off.
