SECURITY bosses at a prison near Bromsgrove played Scrooge by ordering festive decorations to be taken down.

The orders were made by prison bosses at HMP Blakenhurst, in Tardebigge, who were concerned about the Christmas trimmings in the visiting area being over the top.

A prison spokesman said the decorations have been made more 'tasteful' and 'appropriate' and that a Christmas tree and decorations could be seen in the reception at the jail.

He added: "Prisoners can decorate their cells how they like."
