BATTERED and bruised London Welsh come to Sixways tomorrow with an ever-expanding injury list but coach Adrian Davies hopes it will be Worcester who are hurting come Saturday night.

The director of coaching at Old Deer Park has not only seen his side lose to Worcester and Leeds Tykes in recent weeks, but has also had to deal with players going down like nine-pins with knocks.

The former Welsh international could be without six key players for the Sixways clash but will not be using that as an excuse if his side slip-up in the National One match of the day.

Adrian Skeggs' men won 29-12 last month at Welsh but Davies wants an improvement on his side's performance this time around.

He said: "We have had a bad time recently with the injuries but that is irrelevant, every coach has to deal with them. We've had some tough games lately and the Christmas period is always a difficult time for an amateur club with their players.

"However, I was very disappointed with our display against Worcester because I didn't think they had to play that well to beat us. We conceded four tries in quick succession by just switching off.

"Leeds had to play well to win at our place and at least you come away from the game safe in the knowledge that you gave a professional side a decent game."

Having played both the top teams in recent weeks, Davies is well qualified to judge the capabilities of Worcester and Leeds but would not pick out his favourites to clinch the championship.

"All I will say is that it is almost impossible to go through a season unbeaten and I think there will be a few more slip-ups from the two teams before the end.

"I've been there when I played and you have to be so mentally tough week in, week out because every team wants to beat a professional side."
