AS the world mourned the 20th anniversary of John Lennon's death last weekend a Kidderminster couple played their part in ensuring his legend lives on.

Penny Boyle took The Long and Winding Road to Kidderminster register office, said Love Me Do to marry David and now bears the name ......... Penny Lane.

However, despite having the name of one of the Fab Four's most celebrated songs she insisted her wedding day had not been planned to coincide with anniversary events.

Mrs Lane, of Lea Street, said: "I didn't realise the coincidence until one of my friends told me before the wedding.

"I've always been a big Beatles fan and David is too. I've often thought it quite amusing if we did marry I would be known as Penny Lane."

She added: "Everyone so far has reacted in some way -- even youngsters of 17 and 18 know the song. I haven't tired of people's comments, I think it's lovely - and luckily I like the song too!"
