ADRIAN Cooper dramatically booked Stourport Swifts a place in the FA Vase fourth round with an extra-time winner against Dunston Federation Brewery.

Cooper's wonder strike, the only goal of the match, has given Swifts another home draw, this time to Derbyshire side Mickleover Sports.

Rod Brown's side now turn their attention to securing much-needed Midland Alliance points. Last night's league game at Bridgnorth fell foul of the wet weather.

They will have few stiffer tests than on Saturday when leaders Barwell visit Walshes Meadow (3pm).

Swifts' FA Vase clash had looked set for a long-distance replay in the north-east.

But, in driving rain, Cooper ran at the Dunston defence to launch a 30-yard strike which took a deflection on its way to the target in the 115th minute.

Their Northern League opponents had the better of the opening exchanges before a set piece mid-way through the half brought Stourport's closest effort.

Liam Meenan just failed to score with his close-range header from Lea Shaw's free-kick.

Experienced midfielder Brendan Hackett was next to threaten when he blasted a loose ball wide of the Dunston near post from inside the area.

But keeper Rob Clarke kept Swifts level when he pulled off a goal-line save just before the break.

With leading scorer Lee Booth suspended, Swifts brought on Simon Marsh who almost broke the deadlock from a Cooper cross early in the second half.

The fourth round draw, held at Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium, paired Swifts with Northern Counties East League opposition for January 20.

And boss Brown said: "It is a good draw for us.

"It is a home tie against a side I know a little bit about and they are fairly local so we should be able to go and see them play."
