THE weather was again the winner as just three Stratford upon Avon Alliance matches survived the latest deluge.

Two of the matches produced a staggering 18 goals with FISSC pair Harvey Merrins and Rob Jones both bagging hat-tricks.

The Stratford side proved too good for hosts Bretforton OB, who conceded eight goals and failed to score a consolation in their Journal Premier Division clash.

Nick Turner and Martin Donnelly completed the rout for the Insurance lads but the club's second string couldn't make it a winning double.

They played host to Shipston Excelsior Reserves but a solitary strike from Steve Gainsley ensured a narrow passage through to the second round of the Alun Rees Trophy.

Badsey Rangers were the other side to progress but only after a hard-fought contest at first division Campden Town.

Rob Candy and Nick Burrows both found the net twice for the winners with Andy Clements and Rob Jordan also on target. Gallant Town boasted a quartet of different marksmen - Robbie White, Matt Tye, Tom Helbert and Tony Robinson the players threatening to spring a shock.
