IT is becoming common practice with some poor-quality national daily newspapers to refer to Mrs Blair as "First Lady".
It has to be clearly stated that Mrs Blair has no position other than that of the wife of the man who is Prime MinIster for the time being. She is most definitely not this country's "First Lady". That role is more than adequately filled by Her Majesty The Queen.
It should also be made quite clear that Mr Blair who is described not infrequently as "Head of State", is not.
That position is also held by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who has served the citizens of this realm far better than the Blairs ever could.
