THE last four weeks of the Lamberts & Wade Malvern Table Tennis League Division One have seen a total of only eight matches played due to many postponements.

Grosvenor Eagles are now back to full strength with the return of Dave White after a career threatening injury, and they still remain the team to beat this season having taken 14 out of a possible 16 points from their first four matches.

CSSC Ramblers are going well having won five of their first six matches, losing only to Eagles, with Chris Hewitt and the much improved Jim Ahern both in good form ably assisted by the welcome return of Bill Dawson.

Manor Park Cavaliers are again showing no mercy against the weaker teams having taken maximum points in three of their matches and they are still near the top of the league despite defeats against Eagles and YMCA Magpies.

Manor Park Express have also started well, winning four of their first five matches with their only defeat again coming at the hands of Eagles.

Both Ledbury Lions and Bromyard Ramblers have made average starts to the season but on the night both teams are capable of beating almost anyone depending on their team selection.

Last season's runners-up YMCA Magpies have made an indifferent start to the season having taken only six points from their first three matches.

Division One newcomers Ledbury Merlins have made a positive start in taking eight points from their first five matches but in contrast Manor Park Pumas are finding life in Division One extremely tough going having managed only one point in their first six matches.

FLOODS are presenting a problem in Division Three to both Upton B and Upton Ripples who play from Ripple and to Police who have two players who live across the river.

Out of the 28 matches played in this division this season half have resulted in whitewashes and another two in 9-1 wins. This does not always reflect the difference between team standards but also the determination of top teams to do well.
