6 SOME months ago, I wrote to you suggesting that Henwick Halt be re-opened and the land adjacent used as a car park so that people who live on the St John's side of the town could use it to travel into Worcester.

I made the same suggestion previously to the city council but, in their wisdom, they decided it wasn't a good idea, and apparently thought a better idea would be to build a nursing home next to the railway instead, as well as a surgery.

What a boon it would have been during the last two weeks of floods. I believe that at the time of the 1947 floods there was a railway shuttle service running between Henwick Halt and Foregate Street Station. If they could do it 50 years ago, why not now?

Since the city council has access to all records of past floodings, they were lacking in foresight not to have known this could happen again.

The county council have gone so far as to consider re-opening Rushwick Halt but that would not be nearly as beneficial as re-opening Henwick Halt. Maybe it is still not too late for the city council to reconsider.
