GEORGE Cowley has replied to my inquiry about knights with crossed legs in Worcester Cathedral.
His theory about a shortage of public lavatories in those days is in a similar vein to my own idea of knights maybe having had their "tackle" damaged in the crusades.
Mr P Hughes, whose letter castigated poor George's frequency of publication, obviously does not share his sense of humour or imagination or we could have enjoyed a gem of a reply from him.
If feeling is running high against his letter writing, George could offer not to write to the paper for say, a month, in return for donations to charity or for longer, for larger donations.
However, I bet you would all miss him and be glad to see him back in print. And while Mr Hughes and his workmates are having their break at work, instead of taking the mickey out of George, try and see if they have the imagination or literary ability to pen an interesting and readable letter to the Evening News.
