THE distinctive sound of Lindisfarne can be heard at the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury, on Sunday, November 19, as the group nears the end of a gruelling nation-wide tour.
Lindisfarne came out of Tyneside in the Seventies, with an instantly identifiable sound and style that has since acquired classic status.
The ebb and flow of musical fashion saw the group isolated from the mainstream of chart success in the Eighties, but a new generation warmed to the sound of roots-based unplugged music in the Nineties.
The response to Lindisfarne's current album, Here Comes the Neighbourhood has been enthusiastic and the band has set its sights on new challenges, including worldwide festival appearances and virtual gigs on the Internet.
The line-up includes Rod Clements on slide guitar, mandolin, fiddle and vocals; Dave Denham on guitar and vocals, Ray Laidlaw on percussion; Billy Mitchell on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals and Ian Thomson on bass and vocals.
Tickets are £12.50. Box office: 01684 295074.
