I WAS disappointed that you slipped from what ought to be an impartial political approach when publishing a patently propaganda letter from a Mr Ponti in your October 27 issue.

I have waited for the subsequent issue to see if you have relented but obviously not. Whilst it would take a whole issue of the Malvern Gazette to correct this individual's thinking here are a few points which avoid puerile personal attacks like those in his letter.

1. 66% of the country disagree with his view and when the dawn breaks and people realise that what is involved is a United States of Europe an even greater percentage will be shown.

2. An ex-Labour Chancellor says NO.

3. An ex Labour Foreign Secretary say NO.

4. Peter Shore and other senior figures say NO.

5. 44 Labour MPs voted against Maastricht and therefore against the single currency.

6. It is reported that 66% of Germans regret the Euro.

7. Only half of France voted for Maastricht.

8. Many, if not most people, think that Brussels has interfered enough.

One wonders whether the forthcoming book will contain much about the union barons who brought this country to its knees in the Seventies and the associated rubbish heaps of 1978/79 to which the letter and the forthcoming book ought to be consigned.
